While 24 percent of people said that they could not make love on their wedding night because the groom was too drunk, 16 percent blamed the wife for being too tired and falling asleep.
Further 11 percent said it was because they had their children to look after, and 9 percent admitted that they had had an argument before the wedding reception ended.
Another 9 percent added that they spent their wedding night travelling to their honeymoon destination, and 7 percent stayed up all night partying with guests.
The poll questioned 2138 people who married in the past three years.
