Shriners in London Don’t Intend To Give Up Their Cause

Shriners in London are all set to make a go to build a second Shriners children's orthopedics hospital in Canada after losing a bid to build it in their own city, London.

Two Shriners Hospitals can certainly be accommodated, according to David Sloman, potentate of the Mocha Shriners Temple in London. Shriners in Montreal are a bit apprehensive that the London bid would foil the plans for the new facility slated to be built on the site of the new McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) super hospital.

"This would be an entirely different unit. Just because the one in Boston is in Boston, and the one in Springfield is in Springfield, they're only a few miles apart and it doesn't affect either hospital," Sloman reasons out very simply.

The Shriner Group was founded in 1872. This group’s main agenda is to raise money to support a chain of pediatric hospitals where patients below 18 can avail treatment free of charge. The Montreal Shriners Outfit is the only one in Canada and figures among the 22 outfits effectively managed by the Shriners of North America.
