India Can Show Ways To Mitigate Climate Change: Prime Minister Narendra Modi

On the occasion of Earth Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India can show the way to the world in mitigating climate change as caring for the environment is an integral part of the country's ethos.

The prime minister, in a series of tweets, said: "Caring for the environment is an integral part of our ethos. India can truly show the way to the world in mitigating climate change."

"Earth Day is the perfect occasion to reaffirm our commitment to keep our planet clean, green and focus on sustainable development," Modi said.

He added: "We belong to a culture that believes in the mantra - earth is our mother and we are her children."

Earth Day is an annual event which is celebrated on April 22.

The Prime Minister recently asserted that the per capita emission of carbon gas is the lowest and slammed the developed world for questioning India over it.

He had said that India will set the agenda for the upcoming international conference on climate change to be held in France.
