Premature Babies Have Ability to Differentiate Between Objects

A new study by has found that premature babies have the ability to recognize objects and distinguish between them as well.

A new study by researchers at the Laboratoire de psychologie et neurocognition and the Laboratoire de psychologie de la perception has found that premature babies have the ability to recognize objects and distinguish between them as well.

The study involved premature babies aged 33 to 34 + 6 gestational weeks (GW) with an average weight birth of 1,500 grams. It was conducted two weeks after the birth of the babies.

The researchers found that while sense organs and sensory systems of premature babies are less efficient than full-term babies, the manual perception was similar in both sets of babies.

The findings of the study are published on the PLoS One  website.
