Insurance Firms and Private Hospitals to Meet

Corporate hospitals, which were recently struck of the preferred provider network (PPN) of public sector health insurers, are due to meet the firms to sort out the issue. Heads of leading corporate hospitals met with representatives of New India Assurance, United India Insurance, National Insurance and Oriental Insurance to hammer out a settlement. They decided to form working groups to provide a solution to the issues raised by the insurance firms.

It is being reported that the private hospitals are ready to offer standardized treatment packages for 250 common procedures in order to get back on the PPN list.

“The insurance companies had never raised such an issue before. Now that they have expressed their concerns, we will try to address their problems. Tomorrow’s meeting will not be the final one, but we expect most of the current issues to be solved soon,” a healthcare industry executive was quoted as saying by the Business Standard.

Public insurance firms stopped cashless facilities for private hospitals recently as they felt the latter were overcharging them.
