March is the National Nutrition Month when the focus would be on developing a sensible diet, being aware of food choices and balancing diet with regular exercise.

Now, in 2011, it has been recommended that we forget all diet fads and focus on what people ate in the healthy past – fresh vegetables and fruits, cheese, milk, soup, homemade bread and milk.
Setting simple goals instead of following some highly-hyped diet fad helps in building up a healthy nutrition program. Eating less of salt and sugary foods; eating smaller portions; adding fresh and dried herbs to flavor foods instead of salt; including more vegetables to soups; eating a little extra when it comes to fruits; all these actions are not earth shaking, but are sensible and practical, setting us on the path to healthful eating.
