Punjabi singer Jaspal Jassi's team entertained the prosperous Cheema Kalan village people for a social cause. It was fun n` frolic with a difference
It was fun n` frolic with a difference when popular Punjabi singer Jaspal Jassi and others entertained the music lovers at Cheema Kalan Village here to create awareness about social evils like female foeticide and drugs and alcohol addictions. Despite being a prosperous village, Cheema Kalan near Nurmahal town is facing major challenges like female foeticide and drugs and alcohol addiction.
Thousands of music lovers converged on the occasion from adjoining villages. Popular artists like Jazzy B, Babbu Mann, Inderjit Nikku and Debi Maqaoorpuri also shared the stage with Jaspal Jassi.Besides, artists ensured that all music lovers should take an oath not to take up such habits and practice social evils.
The idea to organise cultural programmes for social cause commenced in 2005 with singer Jasbir Jassi at his native village in Dalia Mirjanpur in Gurdaspur district.
On the occasion, Jassi said: “Such fairs surely bring consciousness among people. Before giving in to any temptation they would think of the pledge given by their favourite artists-
Sarabjit Cheema, Babbu Maan and Chacha Raunki Ram. The message by the artists would wake up wrongdoers. Each person holds self-respect and I hope this awareness will keep them away from malpractices.”
Earlier, Jassi won the audience’s heart with his songs pointing out the menace of female foeticide.
The function was organised by Punabi singer Sarbjit Cheema at this village.
