Sued by two alleged victims who suffered heart problems after taking the drug, the court found Servier responsible of having left a defective drug on the market.
About eight years a scandal erupted over a diabetes drug by pharmaceutical firm Servier that was linked to hundreds of deaths. Sued by two alleged victims who suffered heart problems after taking the drug, a French court on Thursday, October 22, 2015, found Servier responsible of having left a 'defective' drug on the market.
The court said, "At the time the medicine was prescribed to them, the state of scientific knowledge meant the risks of pulmonary hypertension and heart valve damage could not be ignored."
