Computer Problems Cause Brits to Waste 30 Minutes a Day

Britons waste nearly 30 minutes every day struggling with computer-related problems, a new survey has found.

The research commissioned by Microsoft found that waiting for a computer to boot up is the most frustrating digital stress for about one in three people working or browsing the net at home.

The survey of 4,000 people showed that one out of five people find pop-up messages and notifications of software updates or new downloads quite irritating.

Locating a file, switching programmes or installing new devices were among the easiest tasks.

Almost 23percent respondents said their computers were like Piers Morgan - the most annoying category.

Nearly 20percent liked their PCs to Simon Cowell - the most frustrating.

And 20percent called their comps Carol Vorderman - the most efficient.

People often resorted to making tea, walking away or shouting to reduce computer stress.ne-fifth of the participants even reported attacking their computer or keyboard.

Laptop batteries running out, identity theft worries and virus infections were among other frustrations.

"We want to alleviate as much stress as possible for people when they are on their computers," the Daily Express quoted John Mangelaars of Microsoft, as saying.
