According to the Sunday Telegraph, the government's motive is to get people to really think how many persons they've had sex with.
The 1.5 million dollar campaign includes a confronting website (www.gettested.com.au) and advertisements on the Internet, newspapers and TV channels.
News.com.au quoted the posts on the website as reading: "How many people have you slept with?"
"Imagine all the people you've actually slept with. Now imagine if one of them had a sexually transmissible disease."
NSW's chief health officer Kerry Chant said, the campaign's theme, "sleeping with one is sleeping with many", is meant to remind young people to use condoms, get tested and seek treatment on contracting a Sexually Transmissable Infection (STI).
Both young people and experts are overseeing the formulation and the implementation of the "Get Tested, Play Safe" campaign.
