Researchers from Belgium are reporting that chlorinated pools may raise the risk of allergies. The study examined 847 students aged 13 to 18, who regularly swam in chlorinated pools both indoors as well as outdoors.
The study found that children who were already sensitive had a 14-fold higher risk of developing asthma and nasal allergies if they used the pools for 1,000 plus hours as compared to kids who used the pools for 100 hours or less.
