A new role of gut-bacteria has been identified, which involves producing a compound that enhances clot formation, from a nutrient, choline, found in various food sources including meat, eggs and milk. A Mediterranean or vegetarian diet is known to reduce trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) levels an risk of clot formation. It is also better to avoid supplements with choline, unless prescribed doctor.
