Antibiotics In Late Pregnancy Poses Risk of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in Infants

Antibiotics are powerful medicines that help in treating dangerous bacterial infections. It acts as a preventive measure which helps in either killing or inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics when given to mice that are susceptible to developing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) during their late pregnancy and early nursing period, it was found that even their offspring were more likely to develop IBD, reveal researchers at the University of Chicago Medicine.
