Glossary
Scalpel: It is a small, extremely sharp instrument used for anatomical dissections or surgical procedures.Gum line: The line which separates the gum from the exposed surface of the tooth.
Periodontal pockets: Abnormal extensions of the gingival sulcus near the area where the gum tissue contacts the tooth.
Periodontal disease: Disease of the gums.
Periodontal probe: It is a dental instrument used to measure sulcus or pocket depths to examine any periodontal disease.
Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis: It is a severe type of gum disease causing painful and bleeding gums.
Dipping tobacco: It is a finely grounded, moistened smokeless tobacco product.
Gingivitis: Inflamed gums.
Periodontist: A dentist who specializes in treating gum-related problems.
