Antenatal: Before the birth of a child i.e. during pregnancyPostpartum: Following childbirth
Miscarriage: When loss of pregnancy occurs spontaneously due to various causes e.g. infections
Abortion: When termination of an unwanted pregnancy is induced e.g. following rape
Amniotic fluid embolism: When amniotic fluid and its contents enter the blood vessels of the woman during labor and cause severe life-threatening complications
