This medication is an iron replacement product, prescribed for iron deficiency anemia in adult patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It works by replacing iron in the body.

When should Ferumoxytol not to be taken? (Contraindications)


Contraindicated in patients with iron overload, anemia due to other reasons, and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Ferumoxytol?


Adult- IV- The recommended dose is an initial 510 mg, followed by a second 510 mg infusion 3 to 8 days later.

How should Ferumoxytol be taken?


It comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.

What are the warnings and precautions for Ferumoxytol?

* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of low blood pressure, who are on dialysis, any allergy, who are taking other medications, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* It may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
