This medication is a triptan compound, prescribed for migraine. It blocks the release of substances from the nerve endings of the brain that cause the pain.When should Eletriptan not be taken? (Contraindications)
Do not administer in patients with heart disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe liver or kidney impairment, migraine, paralysis and cluster headache within 24 hr after the use of ergotamine derivative.What is the dosage of Eletriptan?
Po- The recommended dose is 20 to 40 mg as single dose.How should Eletriptan be taken?
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.What are the warnings and precautions for Eletriptan?
• It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart disease, menopause, high blood pressure, stroke, high cholesterol, diabetes, kidney or liver impairment, ischemic bowel disease, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Avoid alcohol consumption.
Patient may develop with increased risk of Serotonin Syndrome with the following symptoms: increased heart rate, shivering, sweating, dilated pupils,etc . If it is so consult with your healthcare provider.
