Dealing With ADHD

by Rajashri on Sep 7 2009 9:12 PM

Under the Disability Discrimination Act, children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD can jump queues at theme parks.

Experts are now saying that this perk given to such children is actually making it worse for them and that such "perks" should not be given. They add that making ADHD children wait may actually teach them the value of time.

Prof Katya Rubia, of London’s Institute of Psychiatry, says that children with ADHD may be harmed by receiving preferential treatment.

The best way to deal with such children is to teach them to wait for their turn in queues, so that they may learn how to socialize.
