A new survey carried out in an American magazine has voted that Madison is the safest city in the country to raise your kids followed closely by Honolulu and San Francisco.
According to the survey carried out by Men's Health Magazine, Madison beat more than a 100 major cities in the country to take the top spot with the lowest number of accidental death rates among children aged between 5 to 14 years, sex offenders per capita, and the rate of abused children shielded from further abuse. In fact Madison was the only city in the country to receive an A+ grade in the survey.
In comparison, bigger cities like New Orleans and Baltimore received a lower rating with Jacksonville in Florida coming at the bottom of the list.
Expressing his delight at the survey, Madison mayor Dave Cieslewicz said, "I think we deserved it. Obviously I think it reflects our concern about children and some of the efforts we made as a community to keep kids safe. We have a very strong social service system. We fund domestic abuse programs, and we're working a safe route to school program to make it safer for kids to bike and walk."
