6-Month-Old Identical Twins Hear for the First Time Using Custom Made Hearing Aids
Custom made hearing aids made a pair of identical twins to hear their parents for the first time in California. A nonprofit organization helped the twins suffering with severe hearing loss by fitting the hearing aids.
Their parents were not able to afford hearing aids for their daughters because their insurance didn’t cover its cost of $12,000. The 6-month-old sisters, Kayla and Kiara Hernandez, had developmental delays in academics, speech and communication without using the assistive technology early in life.

When Newport Beach-based HearAid Foundation heard of their story, they fit Kayla and Kiara for hearing aids. The nonprofit helps families like them to gain access to hearing aids.

"They will be able to hear all those sounds ...so many blessings and beautiful things this world has to offer to them," said Gemila, their Mother.
