How to Take Miglitol and it's Dose


It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

PO- The initial recommended dose is 25 mg 3 times daily. It may be increased after four to eight weeks to 50-100mg three times daily.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (high blood glucose with the presence of ketones in the urine), inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal blockage, prolonged intestinal diseases and hypersensitivity.

This medication is an oral anti-diabetic drug (alpha-glucosidase inhibitor), prescribed for type 2 diabetes either alone or with other medications.
