More than 10 percent of British women are willing to pay up to £50,000 for their IVF treatment if they are guaranteed a successful pregnancy, a new survey carried out by Red Magazine reveals. The magazine posed a number of fertility related questions to over 2,000 women and found that nearly half of them who tried IVF are successfully while the success rate dips to 18 percent among women who tried the treatment more than five times.
Around quarter of the women who participated in the study admitted that they had borrowed money to fund their treatment while more than 22 percent said that they are willing to change their homes in order to come into a free NHS catchment area for IVF.
Speaking on the results of the survey, Sam Baker from the Red Magazine said that women were willing to make huge financial sacrifices in order to get pregnant. “Our report shows that women are prepared to make huge financial sacrifices as they do whatever it takes to conceive, cutting back on holidays or pensions in order to boost their chances of having family”, he said.
