Christian Medical College In India Celebrates World Day For Safety And Health At Work
The Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, will be celebrating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on the CMC Hospital campus.
The International Labour Organisation observes the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28 every year from 2003. The Day emphasizes the need for a safe and healthy work environment at all levels. Also, it encourages active participation from employers and workers in securing a safe and healthy work environment through a system of defined rights, responsibilities and duties.

‘Join in building a culture of prevention on OSH’ (Occupational Safety and Health) is the theme for the 2015 World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Essay and logo competitions were conducted as part of the celebration. Various occupational teams have been working on identifying and preventing occupational health issues in CMC.

Some of the common hazards experienced by the staff were highlighted and prevention was planned for the same. Several departments have begun back exercise-based prevention culture; annual surveillance for hearing problems has been established and employees working in noisy environments have been taught preventive measures.
