 Surviving Cancer With Pride
The World Cancer Survivor’s Day, which falls on June 6, is a reflection of the triumph of human spirit over one of the most deadly illnesses the world has known.
The ‘I am a survivor’ is a two-day festival being organized by the Apollo Cancer Hospital at Hyderabad and has already seen many survivors talk freely about their struggles against cancer. One such survivor is Abhiram, a 12-year-old who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. The tenacious class-topper had to undergo two years of struggle before recovering from his illness.

34-year-old Jyothi Prasad also spoke of her fight against breast cancer, "After attending these meetings of cancer support groups, I realised that my sufferings were minuscule compared to those of several others,” the customer care manager said.

Dr P Vijayanand Reddy of Apollo Hospital said that people would believe survivors more than the doctors, so it was good of the survivors to talk about their illness.
