Bile duct carcinoma (cholangiocarcinoma) is a cancer of the bile ducts, the tubes that connect the liver and gall bladder to the small intestine. The function of bile ducts is to convey the bile from the liver and gall bladder to the small intestine, where the digestion of food takes place. Bile is critical for digestion of fat in the food.
