Diagnosis of Anxiety Disorder

Medically Reviewed by The Medindia Medical Review Team on Sep 24, 2014

Diagnosis of Anxiety Disorder

The doctor diagnoses anxiety disorder after understanding the patients' detailed history, and performing a physical and mental health exam.

The presence of feelings of doom, fear, agitation along with symptoms like sweating, palpitation, rapid and increased breathing, wringing of the hands etc. are the clinical pointers.

There are no lab tests to specifically diagnose anxiety disorders. However, certain tests may be advised to rule out other conditions and behaviors that cause similar symptoms.
