Five Tips to Keep Hypertension at Bay

Hypertension is a global public health issue in the 21st century. The number of people with hypertension is projected to increase from 118 million in 2000 to 214 million in 2025, according to Coronary Artery Disease Index in Asian Indians (CADI).


It's the most common lifestyle disease we come across today. One of the major causes of hypertension is the change in lifestyle patterns, which have been fueled by excessive consumption of salt, processed foods, alcohol and tobacco. If it is not addressed at an early stage, it can lead to health problems such as stroke, kidney failure and even premature death at times.

About one in every five Indians suffers from hypertension, which is a major risk factor for the heart. It is important for people to take appropriate measures as soon as they witness the first signs of hypertension.
