Why is Cetrorelix Prescribed? (Indications)


This medication is an injectable gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH antagonist), prescribed for preventing premature ovulation during controlled ovarian stimulation. It prevents ovulation by blocking the hormone (gonadotropin-releasing hormone-GnRH) that causes egg to be released.

When should Cetrorelix not to be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment, during pregnancy and breast-feeding, and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Cetrorelix ?

Adult- SC- The recommended dose is 0.25 mg administered on either stimulation day 5 (morning or evening) or day 6 (morning).
