James, a headmaster at a local school near the city of was exploring the possibility of undergoing his transplant in India, as he was not sure which center he should visit. He made enquiries with his friends and a few of them had traveled to Sri Ramachandra Hospital in Chennai and liked their facilities and reasonable costs. In fact one of the patients who was undergoing dialysis in his place had a transplant at Sri Ramachandra and he decided to travel to Chennai to have the transplant. He had a large family and his youngest brother who was in a garment business agreed to donate his kidney. A few initial investigations were done and they took a flight to Chennai via Mumbai. A month after his arrival he had a kidney transplant and he did well post-operatively. The total cost of the treatment was within 5 lakhs and this included the 1.5 lakhs for the special three injections that would prevent early rejection of his kidney. |

Posted on: 09/06/2009 Medical Tourism is a very serious business. You are dealing with human lives it is not a money making body-shipping business. It should be more patient centric and the concern should be more on the overall wellbeing of the patient. We too are a part of Medical Tourism and we believe in this ideology.Dont try to make money out of a sick person try to help him instead!
