Adults More Addicted To Facebook And Twitter Than Teens
According to the new survey, a whopping 85 percent of adults said that other people on the social networking sites (SNS) are mostly kind, with only five percent saying that other people are mostly unkind.
In comparison, 69 percent of teenagers said that people on sites like Facebook and Twitter are mostly kind, with 20 percent complaining that others are mostly unkind, the Daily Mail reported.
The survey showed that while teenagers are having a good time overall on social networking sites, clearly adults are enjoying them even more.
The nationally representative phone survey of American adults, carried out by the Pew Research Center, also found that 68 percent of SNS users said they had an experience that made them feel good about themselves and 61 percent had experiences that made them feel closer to another person, with many saying they had both experiences.
The results also revealed that 39 percent of SNS-using adults said they frequently see acts of generosity by other SNS users and another 36 percent said they sometimes see others behaving generously and helpfully.
When it came to unpleasant behavior on SNS, adults have seen their share, but it tends to be evident to them far less frequently than it is to teen SNS users.
Compared with teen SNS users, adults are somewhat more likely to stand back, not get involved, and ignore the offensive behavior.
