Prescription Drugs - New Fad in Britain
A new study by Professor Joan Busfield from Essex University has found that Britain is fast becoming a nation that craves for prescription drugs.

"I think drugs are being overused. The population is getting healthier and healthier, longevity is increasing, but we are using more and more drugs," Dr Busfield said.

She said that pharma companies were to blame as they were disease-mongering by labeling sexual dysfunction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and high cholesterol as diseases. Prof Busfield also said that drug companies appeared to be in total control of science, with trials and conferences being sponsored by them.

The details of the study appear in the Social Science & Medicine journal.
