Glossary

Antihistamines: Drug used to offset the effects of histamine

Histamine: A chemical released in the body during an allergic reaction, causing inflammation; also used in medical treatment, especially to dilate capillaries

Central nervous system: Brain, spinal cord and their nerve endings

Anti-depressants: Any type of medications used to counter depression

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs): Group of drugs that reduce stomach acid production, prevent ulcers

Renin: Hormone released by the kidney that helps regulate blood pressure
