Around four babies have died in Kazakhstan after they received blood transfusion thought to be contaminated with HIV. Kazakh health ministry said 49 children have been infected in the last few months in various hospitals in the country.
"The ones who died were all younger than two years old," a ministry official told Reuters. Investigations are focused on 13 suspected donors who are thought to have HIV.HIV/AIDS infection levels soared in the erstwhile Soviet Union after its break-up mainly due to drug addicts.Source-Medindia
