Spotlight on Aids-prevention

by Medindia Content Team on May 21 2006 6:05 PM

New Zealand is witness to an International Aids Candlelight Memorial which is an effort to bring home the message that Aids is very much a domestic problem and disassociating from it is not going to remedy the situation.

It is estimated that nearly 2700 New Zealanders are suffering HIV. The annual candle light memorials were always in remembrance of the people who had died of AIDS. But this time, it will also carry a theme with it - “Lighting the Path to a Brighter Future". The underlying message is that memorials would not serve their ultimate purpose, if the cause for which the death had occurred, AIDS/HIV, is not being prevented appropriately.
