Glossary

Mites: Arachnids that are related to ticks.

ARDS: Acute Respiratory distress syndrome, a condition where the lungs are not able to oxygenate the blood

DIC: Disseminated intravascular coagulation, a condition where there is improper activation of the clotting system, causing bleeding in some places and clotting in others.


Septic shock: A condition where blood supply to tissues is compromised

ELISA: Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay, a test to detect specific antibodies in the patient's serum

Pneumonitis: Inflammation of the lungs

Stupor: A state of near unconsciousness

Myocarditis: Inflammation of the muscle layer of the heart.
