Causes of Clinical Depression
There could be varied causes that trigger depression. Great progress has been made in the understanding of brain function, the influence of neurotransmitters and hormones and other biological processes, as well as how they may relate to the development of depression.
Our brain is the command center of our body. It controls our emotions, thoughts and our movements. Research proves that limbic system which is located in our brain regulates activities such as our emotions, mood and behavior. The activities of the limbic system are so important and complex that disturbances in any part of it, could affect your mood and behavior.
Factors like grief, stress, loss of loved ones, financial losses, family history of depression, retirement, alcohol addiction may trigger depression. Within the brain there are special chemicals called neurotransmitters that carry out many important functions. Depression may be caused due to a chemical imbalance in the brain which can be cured with medication.
