Glossary
Anemia: A condition in which there is a deficiency of red cells or hemoglobin in the blood.Autonomic Nervous System (ANS): A part of the nervous system that is not under voluntary control but works by itself i.e. involuntarily.
Dysautonomia: A dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome: An inherited disorder that affects the connective tissues supporting the skin, blood vessels, bones and other structures, often resulting in easy bruising and loose joints.
Fibromyalgia: A rheumatic condition characterized by musculoskeletal pain with stiffness and localized pain at specific points on the body.
Hepatitis C: An infection caused by the hepatitis C virus that attacks the liver and causes inflammation.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): A condition involving recurrent abdominal pain and diarrhea or constipation, often associated with stress, depression, anxiety, or previous intestinal infection.
Lyme Disease: A tick-borne illness caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi.
Mitral Valve Prolapse: Improper closure of the valve between the upper and lower chambers on the left side of the heart.
Mononucleosis: Also called "Mono" or "Kissing Disease", it is an infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus.
Multiple Sclerosis: A disease in which the immune system damages the protective covering of the nerves.
Sj�gren's Syndrome: An immune system disorder characterized by dry eyes and dry mouth.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE): An inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues, and is characterized by fatigue, joint pain, and a butterfly rash on the face.
