Zydus Hospitals will invest Rs. 1,000 crore to set up a hospital chain in Gujarat over a period of next five-six years. The private healthcare company will soon open its 550-bed super-specialty hospital in Ahmedabad with an investment of Rs. 550 crore.

"We plan to develop a regional hospital chain in the state. Our next destination is Vadodara. But other hospitals will be smaller in bed capacity," said Pankaj Patel, founder, Zydus Hospitals.

The family-funded business of the promoters of pharma major Cadila Healthcare Limited, Zydus Hospitals already has a 180-bed hospital in Anand district.

The new hospital in Ahmedabad will provide treatment for highly critical surgical and therapeutic areas including organ transplant, pancreatic stone removal, neurological surgery for stroke.

The hospital has imported highly sophisticated equipment and technology including the Gemstone Spectral Imaging Technology for detailed analysis and accurate diagnosis of tumors.

"The facility will become a destination for lung and heart transplant in Gujarat. We have designed the hospital keeping in mind the patient convenience by using most modern technology," Patel said.
