Singer Andy Williams Has Bladder Cancer

American singer Andy Williams reveals he has bladder cancer.

He broke the news on Saturday night at a special Christmas celebration at Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri where he lives.

The 83-year-old made a number of hits in the 1950s and 1960s and is known for songs like Can't Take My Eyes Off You and Moon River.

He had to cancel performances at the theatre earlier in the year due to undisclosed health problems.

According to the Branson Tri-Lakes News, when Williams came on stage early in the show, the surprised audience gave him a standing ovation.

"I do have cancer of the bladder. But that is no longer a death sentence," BBC quoted him as telling the audience.

"People with cancer are getting through this thing. They're kicking it, and they're winning more and more every year. And I'm going to be one of them," he said.

However, he promised that he would be back next year to celebrate his 75 years in showbiz.

"I'm going to do the shows I've planned to do," he added.
