Researchers Using Graphene to Create Condoms for Greater Pleasure

by Kathy Jones on November 24, 2013 at 7:03 PM

Scientists from the University of Manchester are using the world's thinnest, strongest and most conductive material in the form of graphene to create thinner, stronger, safer and more pleasurable condoms.

For the development of new composite nano-materials condoms, the research team has been awarded 100,000 dollars grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, News.com.au reported.

The research will be led by Dr. Aravind Vijayaraghavan at Manchester's newly established National Graphene Institute.

Vijayaraghavan said that graphene will be tailored to enhance the natural sensation during intercourse while using a condom, which should encourage and promote condom use.

This will be achieved by combining the strength of graphene with the elasticity of latex to produce a new material, he said.
