P-1 Type Polio Virus on Its Way Out in Bihar

by Savitha C Muppala on January 20, 2011 at 9:03 PM

Bihar is close to winning its unrelenting battle against the P-1 type polio virus with just 3 P-1 type cases as per recent statistics.

According to World Health Organization (WHO) surveillance medical officer (SMO) Samandhan P Debaje, Uttar Pradesh made notable strides in the battle against P-1 type polio virus in 2009 and now Bihar has set an example with just three P-1 type cases.

The WHO officials have attributed this success in Bihar to the diligent effort of several teams involved in house- to-house operation in ensuring administration of polio drops to all children.
