Indian Toddler Makes It to Guinness Book of Records With Thirty Four Fingers and Toes

by Savitha C Muppala on July 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM

Polydactyly, a genetic disorder, which results in the formation of extra fingers at birth, is a condition that secured Akshat Saxena a berth in the prestigious Guinness book of records.

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, North India, this one-year-old toddler, was born with 34 fingers and toes. He has ten toes on each foot and seven fingers on each hand.

Doctors have performed a number of surgeries on this boy to amputate the extra fingers. He does not have thumbs on both his hands, so doctors are now trying to reconstruct them with the surgically removed fingers.
