Health Risks of Waiting in Call Centre Queues

by Savitha C Muppala on September 24, 2011 at 8:51 AM

Waiting what might seem like endless minutes on call centre queues is not just irritating and annoying, as researchers have found. It can also damage health gravely due to unexplained stress.

Apparently, waiting for more than 5 minutes and 58 seconds in a call centre queue can increase blood pressure. People waiting may feel their heart racing or experience sweaty palms or even anger and frustration.

These negative emotions can raise stress levels and cause a host of problems like anxiety, headache, stomach and bowel irritation and also difficulties in family relationships.

Before approaching these calls centers, it might be a good idea to take a few breaths, brace yourself for the wait and condition the mind to take things easy. After all, nothing in this world can be more important than health.
