Hangover Drug Blowfish Receives FDA Nod

by Kathy Jones on January 2, 2012 at 7:47 PM

People suffering from hangovers after a late night out can now purchase a drug designed specifically for their problem after the US Food and Drug Administration approved a new drug known as Blowfish.

According to the drug's creator Brenna Haysom, Blowfish is a combination of aspirin, caffeine and an antacid that creates a lemon flavored drink which provides a combined effect of two extra-strength aspirins, three espressos and a full cooked breakfast. Haysom added that Blowfish was the only over-the-counter drug approved by the FDA for curing hangover.

However experts are not fully convinced about the drug's ability to cure hangover. Stating that Blowfish was just a new drug claiming to fight hangovers, Richard Blondell, vice-chair for Addiction Medicine at the American Academy of Family Physicians, said, "Every year there is a new product out that claims to be the cure against hangovers. Blowfish is simply this year's thing."
