DRDO Develops a Poly Herbal Medicine to Treat Leucoderma in India

A poly herbal medicine to treat leucoderma has been developed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in India.

Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar, said that the poly-herbal formulation comprises of ointment and oral dose.


He described that the ointment has seven ingredients of plants having properties such as skin photo sensitizer, anti-blister, anti-irritation, anti-septic, wound healing and copper supplementing properties and the oral dose has been formulated to check the emergence of new spots.

He added that the technology of the herbal product has been transferred to AIMIL Pharmaceutical Private Limited for commercial production and marketing. The product has been launched by the company by the trade name of "Lukoskin". DRDO has no plans to export this drug.
