Delhi Arogya Kosh to be Expanded to Include More Families

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has announced that the government funded healthcare plan, Delhi Arogya Kosh, will be expanded to include more people.

The health scheme provides financial help for medical treatment for the poor and was limited to families whose annual income was less than Rs 1 lakh.

The scheme will now be expanded to include families whose annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh and the financial aid given has also been increased from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

"The annual family income limit of Rs 1 lakh has been enhanced to Rs 2 lakh for being eligible for DAK aid. We will also raise the upper limit of assistance from Rs 1.5 lakh for heart, cancer and kidney diseases to Rs 5 lakh or 100 per cent of the estimated cost of treatment, whichever is less", Dikshit said, adding that her government has approved a 200-bed hospital costing more than Rs 200 crore in Burari in north Delhi.
