Festivities are celebrations for humans, not for animals. High-calorie foods are part of the festive diet, but adding leftover scraps to your dog's diet will make it more sick.


Humane Society, a non-profit organization has warned people not to feed their dogs with Thanksgiving leftovers. Thanksgiving is celebrated on November 26th this year and it is a custom to cook a lavish feast on this day.

‘Feeding Thanksgiving leftover scraps rich in calories, salts and fats for dogs may turn harmful and cause them discomforts.’

Thanksgiving meal mostly comprises of turkey, fish, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin, cranberry sauce, hot rolls, fruit salad, mince meat pie, fruit cake, etc. These foods are rich in calories, fats, salts and sugars. Therefore, feeding dogs with these will make them sick and sometimes could even prove fatal.

Effects of Thanksgiving Foods on Dogs

Make this Thanksgiving a pet-friendly one by restricting yourself from feeding dogs with thanksgiving leftovers to keep them fit and healthy.
