Viagra Patch May Just Improve Your Libido in Minutes
Viagra, the drug which has helped improve the sexual health of millions may get a makeover soon. How about a viagra skin patch that could be worn anywhere on your body?
The libido-boosting blue pill is used for treating erectile dysfunction and improve sex lives of many couples. The 25 mg oral drug is needed to be taken at least 30 minutes to an hour before sexual intercourse.

But the viagra in a patch form can eliminate this waiting time and also its side effects such as a migraine, muscle pain and indigestion. Also, this patch can last beyond the current 10-hour period of the pill.

Scientists from Cairo University and King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, have developed the patch form of viagra that can be worn on the skin instead of ingestion.

The faster-acting skin patch consists of nanoparticles of viagra drug or sildenafil citrate which can easily pass through the skin and enter the bloodstream.

They used a newer drug delivery system called as transferome technology. With this technique, they converted the patch into 1 cm square ones. This experimental patch containing the minute viagra particles was tested in rats and proved successful.

The study was published in the journal Drug Design, Development and Therapy, where the authors said, "This could be a promising delivery system for the drug. The skin is an alternative route to the oral one, prolonging the effect and reducing variability.”

The stick-on skin patch can be worn on the upper arm or the abdomen and is expected to be priced at £10 ($28) while the pill is a mere 30p.
