| Physiology |
Serious anaerobic infections are due to mixed bacterial flora, which act as pathogenic synergists. Wound infestations are caused by the anaerobes - Bacteroides fragilis, Prevotella melaninogenica, Peptostreptococcus prevotii, Fusobacterium. Aerobes are found in less numbers than anaerobes.
