RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Last month, Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) began seeing patients at their brand new locations in Fredericksburg, VA and Richmond, VA. While the practice has eight locations in Northern Virginia and is the largest fertility center in the state, the Richmond, VA location marked the first location for SGF in Southern Virginia. These new locations allow for greater convenience for patients in those regions and offer a full complement of fertility services. For in vitro fertilization (IVF), Virginia patients have convenient access to SGF's state-of-the-art IVF center in Fairfax, VA.

The new Richmond location is led by physician Dr. Erika Johnston-MacAnanny and the new Fredericksburg location by Dr. Nancy Durso. Both award-winning board-certified reproductive endocrinologists are veterans in the field and committed to providing highly individualized care for the one in eight couples who face infertility.

To help spread awareness about local infertility treatment options, SGF is hosting free events in each of the new locations in October, November, and December. The Richmond event "What to Expect When You're Not Expecting" will answer important questions about when to see a fertility specialist, as well as common causes of infertility, what to expect during the physician consult, fertility testing, and financial options.

"Our event is intended to inform people about the importance of early fertility intervention. The earlier couples seek help from a fertility specialist, the more treatment options that are available to them, and the better their outcomes," says Johnston, who will be hosting the Richmond event on Tuesday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m.

In Fredericksburg, information seekers are invited to attend a free seminar with Rosalie Gunson, CRNP on Wednesday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. and with Dr. Nancy Durso on Thursday, December 13 at 7:00 p.m. "Since it can be intimating for people to think about seeing a fertility specialist, at this event, we walk attendees through the entire process from start to finish so there are no surprises. We understand that patients are coming to see us during a deeply sensitive time in their lives, and we're here to offer them every advantage to getting pregnant," adds Durso.

In addition to educating the community and offering resources about infertility, one of the practice's top priorities is making access to fertility care more affordable, which is why they participate with over 30+ insurance providers and why they created innovative financial programs for their patients such as their signature Shared Risk 100% Refund Guarantee and Shared Help Programs. With these new VA locations, more people now have access to financial plans that are exclusive to SGF patients. In the Shared Risk Program, 82% of patients take home a baby; the rest receive a refund to support other family building endeavors.

Another advantage for patients at SGF are the integrated support resources that are available to help ease the emotional stress and challenges of treatment. In helping to support the "whole" patient, SGF offers infertility support groups throughout the VA region with trained mental health professionals, in addition to individual and couples counseling.

All educational events and support groups are complimentary but require interested parties to register to attend. For those unable to attend an in-person event, the practice also offers weekly online webinars on a variety of infertility topics. Visit the SGF calendar of events page on their website for more details.
